    Production

    As a new functional carbon material, Expanded Graphite (EG) is a kind of loose porous wormlike substance obtained by natural Graphite scales through intercalation, water washing, drying and high temperature expansion. EG in addition to the natural graphite itself cold and heat resistance, corrosion resistance, self-lubrication and other excellent properties, but also has natural graphite without softness, compression resilience, adsorption, ecological environment coordination, biocompatibility, radiation resistance and other characteristics.

    Brodie discovered expanded graphite in the early 1860s by heating natural graphite with chemical agents such as sulfuric and nitric acid, but its application did not begin until a hundred years later. Since then, many countries have launched the research and development of expanded graphite and made a significant breakthrough in scientific research.

    Expanded graphite in high temperature can be instant volume expansion 150~300 times, from flake into vermicular shape, thus loose structure, porous and bending, surface area expansion, surface can improve, adsorption flake graphite force enhanced, vermicular graphite can be inserted between themselves, so as to increase its softness, resilience and plasticity.
